Lesson 0202: Gaining Access--Physical
This lesson was fun! Basically we went to the Public Listings on Nar Shadaa and entered strongholds. With the larger group we only went to empty ones and/or ones belonging to people we know. This got pretty funny when somebody tipped off the owner and we had to improvise. Expect more of this in the future. Strange, yes--but we'll apply the open-world PvP defense here. If you leave your stronghold Public, you're practically asking for someone to barge in. This could lead to us finding more RPers through a unique means. Or, more likely, us stumbling in on something hilarious and awkward. Either way, sounds like fun to me.
Good evening, and welcome again to another lecture here at the Academy. I hope you’ve all been working diligently on your at-home assignments. I’m serious about this assignment, if you haven’t already picked up on that. If we’re going to remain operating, we’ll need to bring in additional funding. And unless one of you is independently wealthy and cares to provide a generous donation, that means we’ll need to begin marketing some of our assets. Again, I reiterate…do take this assignment seriously.
To that end we’re going to embark on a sort of ‘field trip’. As always, we’ll need to divide into teams based on which credentials you’re currently using: Republic, or Imperial. Hmm…strange. I could’ve sworn we had a greater representation of those from Republic backgrounds last semester. No matter. Tonight’s activities might be considered a bit…unsavory, depending on who you ask. We also risk breaching local laws, which is impressive given that we’re on Nar Shadaa. If we get caught, we may need to talk our way out of it and grease a few palms. More than usual, I mean. Tonight we’re going to attempt gaining entry to local facilities with similar blueprints to that of this Academy. We’ll investigate one site as a whole, then break off into Teams Aurek and Besh, lead by myself and Thayta, respectively. After the activity, we’ll report back to the Promenade for an after-action report, and perhaps a drink or two at the slopes.
AFTER ACTION REPORT
Our first attempt was mostly successful. Zephr, our most recent graduate, provided reconnaissance from a location most of us were unable to access, continuing to prove himself an asset even after completing the program. Things went fine, really, until we encountered facility personnel in one of the far rooms. Codoyall, acting of his own volition, rendered the subject unconscious through applying a hold to her pressure point. It was a well-executed maneuver and would have set him out as an exemplary candidate in the field—had this been an actual field operation. Instead this was a well-disguised delivery of goods to an ally’s cantina. Hopefully Lady Divine and the poor young woman on her staff won’t hold the stunt against us. I did, after all, deliver one of the most exclusive champagnes I could get my hands on, as well as a sizable ‘donation’ for the trouble.
Team Aurek (Hez):
Perhaps next time I should use less discretion in where I select for a location to scout. I chose an old ally’s casino as a location I thought would be good. Little did I realize he had beefed up security, as well as moved some of his more menacing pets out onto the landing pad. We could barely get our foot in the door. I was just about to order a retreat when we were greeted by an unfamiliar face—err, helmet—but one claiming to be kin to my old friend. I had to talk our way out of it, explaining that we came by for a complimentary security audit, only to find that their security system was not only up to standard, but far superior to many we’d come across. Smooth, I know. In the end, he didn’t kill us, and I think invited us to gamble there in the near future…provided we give advanced notice of our arrival, of course.
Team Besh (Thayta):
Thayta’s small covert ops patrol (by which I mean him and Rinoa) apparently happened into a facility occupied by at least one other biological signature. While Thayta was equipped with a stealth field generator, Rinoa was not. From what I gather, they were able to survey the entire facility without being caught or captured. Whether that was because the occupant knew of their presence is unknown. Most importantly, they were able to get in and out with little incident. And if exposed, only one face was seen.
OVERALL:
Clearly we've got some work to do: choosing our targets more carefully, distinguishing training versus real-world protocols...at least I can still talk my way out of a pummeling. They're a long ways from ready, but the potential still exists.
